TOP 20 FIRM MHA MacIntyre Hudson has made a push into what is sees as a region of growing importance for the firm, in a merger with Folkestone-based Spain Brothers.
Two-partner firm Spain Brothers provides a broad range of accounting, tax and advisory services, with clients in not-for-profit, transport & logistics, property & construction and motor.
“Kent continues to be an exciting market place and we continue to see it as a growth area,” said managing partner Rakesh Shaunak (pictured).
“Our Canterbury and Maidstone offices have provided us with a favourable presence in the region for several years. However, with the Spain Brothers Folkestone office, we now have the opportunity to work much more closely with businesses across the county and take advantage of the opportunities on offer.”
In 2013 the firm took on board Canterbury- and Maidstone-based Larkings, which then consisted of six partners and 40 staff.
Phil Shohet, a practice consultant from Foulger UnderwoodKato, said the deal “adds to the firm’s progress in Kent”. “Spain Brothers is a very good quality practice,” he added.
The deal marks another step in MacIntyre Hudson’s evolution into a firm with a wider presence and brand. In October the firm joined network Baker Tilly International.
It created its own UK regional association, MHA, in 2010.
MHA MacIntyre Hudson sits at 18th in the Accountancy Age Top50+50 Survey of Firms, with £41.8m in revenues.
