ACCA has confirmed that chief operating officer, Helen Brand, will act as interim chief executive in the wake of Desmond Hudson's resignation.
She will start immediately and take over from long-serving CEO Anthea Rose, who will retire from the position on 30 September.
A spokesman for the ACCA said that Rose still intends to retire as planned, but there is ‘no doubt that she will keep a close interest in it’.
The process of searching for a full-time chief executive will begin in earnest following Hudson’s resignation, although ACCA could not confirm who will act as the headhunter.
But a spokesman indicated that the institute will not be using the firm that hunted Hudson, Whitehead Mann. ‘To be honest it is unlikely that we’ll be using them again. They have been doing it for the last two years.’
