Mark Becker, principal consultant at KPMG Management Consulting, has been elected president of the Project Management Institute (PMI) in UK for 1997. Becker, who joined KPMG in 1996, previously worked for AT&T (GIS) as head of the Systems Integration Management for Professional Services in the UK.

Irving Caplan has been promoted to associate director within CMG’s advanced technology division. Caplan has taken on the additional role of technical director, with responsibility for CMG UK’s internal technology direction.

He was previously a consultant within CMG’s advanced technology division.

CMG has appointed Richard Wright to its government division. Wright will be responsible for CMG’s work with the Department of Trade & Industry and related agencies, with specific focus on the telecommunications industry.

Wright, who has been with CMG for 10 years, previously worked in the commercial division.

P-E International has recruited David Regester to develop its human resources practice. Regester, who is a remuneration specialist, was previously a partner at Price Waterhouse and has held a regional directorship at Wyatt.

ITnet has increased its consultancy team with the appointment of two new consultants. Mike Rose joins ITnet as business transformation programmes director from Oasis. Ian Hope joins as a business transformation director.

He was previously a manager with Unisys.

Michael Sommers of Price Waterhouse Consulting, has been appointed lead partner for its market and consumer service. Sommers, who currently runs his own marketing and management consultancy, has previously worked for a number of leading UK organisations, including MGM Cinemas (UK), TSB Bank, and Woolworths.

Vaughan Jenkins has joined the board of Hogg Robinson Financial Services (HRFS) as commercial development director. In his new position Jenkins will be responsible for developing business strategy with overall responsibility for the marketing function within HRFS. Jenkins previously worked in the financial services practice at Price Waterhouse Management Consultancy.

Siemens Business Services has appointed Dave Bottone as strategic support director. Bottone will be responsible for developing the infrastructure and technical design of the company’s network and service management solutions.

He will also support the company’s sales and marketing operations. Bottone joins Siemens from GSI UK where he was managing director of the facilities management business.

Coopers & Lybrand Europe has appointed Roger White as its first director of European communications. White will be responsible for the co-ordination of all communication activity for Coopers & Lybrand in Europe. White was previously head of corporate public relations in the UK. Replacing White is Bridget Juniper, who joined Coopers & Lybrand in 1994.

John George joins Logica as sales and marketing director, communications division, with the aim of strengthening Logica’s hold in the telecoms sector. George previously worked for Digital where he developed a global strategy for the wireless and new entrant telecommunications market.

Christopher Clarke, vice-president responsible for the utilities practice at AT Kearney, has been named co-leader of the practice in Europe. Based in London, he will share the responsibilities with Dr Klaus-Dieter Maier.

This follows expansion of AT Kearney’s business in Europe.

John Kelly has been appointed the new managing partner of Ernst & Young’s UK consultancy practice. Kelly was previously partner in charge of Ernst & Young’s performance improvement and is a member of the leadership team of Ernst & Young’s UK consulting practice.

Druid has appointed John Pyle to head its application support service, Druid Online. Pyle brings with him extensive experience within the IT industry, including logistics posts at William Guppy, Data Logic and Monsanto Chemicals.
