It’s official, IT does boost a company’s bottom-line financial performance. According to the first worldwide IT census, sponsored by management consultancy Compass. The survey canvassed IT directors from 150 of the top companies from the UK, USA, Germany and Scandinavia. Of those surveyed, 54 per cent said IT had directly improved their profitability. The report also showed that they were also spending more on IT.
DA Consulting is getting into step with the pharmaceutical industry in a deal with Knoll, makers of surgical accoutrements. Under the terms of the #60,000 contract DA will support training and on-line documentation for 200 users of its SAP R/3 system.
IT consultancy and services firm, the Diagonal Group, has floated on the London stock market. On 24 March the firm placed 4,500,000 shares on the market at 275p per share. A spokesman for the firm said they were oversubscribed and are currently trading around 295p.
KPMG has installed a news and information intranet in its UK offices which gives the firm’s 5,000 staff immediate access to news sources like the FT, Reuters and Dow Jones. The NewsEdge/Web system, was provided by Desktop Data, and will reduce the pressure on the firm’s library staff who were continually snowed under by requests for information.
Druid management consultants has signed a business application partnership with Oracle, the database software organisation. The partnership formalises Druid’s position as an Oracle-oriented consultancy.
The Delphi Group handed over a cheque for #15,000 to Lord Tebbit last month. But this was no cash for questions payoff, as Tebbitt accepted the money as president of the Heathcote Education Trust which is involved in the DEAFin IT project. Delphi’s contribution will help the DEAFin IT initiative to fund more resources to create a real working environment where young people who are deaf will use IT to get on-the-job-training.
