Mazars announces two partner appointments, increased fee income growth

Top ten firm Mazars has announced the promotion of two individuals to partner in the tax and corporate finance teams.

Greig Simms has become a tax partner at Mazars, having joined the firm as a trainee. He is a specialist in corporate tax and in the infrastructure and property sectors. He has experience in compliance and advisory services.

Dave Hilton also joined Mazars as a trainee, and has now been appointed as a corporate finance partner. He specialises in lead advisory and project management with experience of sell and buy-side corporate transactions.

Phil Verity, UK senior partner at Mazars, said: “It is very satisfying to see home grown talent rise to the top of the organisation. I congratulate Greig and Dave on their well-deserved promotions, and I hope that our ongoing focus on developing a strong culture and creating opportunities will encourage people from across the organisation to follow their lead”.

The appointments follow the firm’s announcement of increased overall fee income growth of 8.5% for the year ending 31 August 2017. Fee income jumped to £174m compared to the £160m achieved in the previous year. The figures represent Mazars’ sixth consecutive year of growth.

Financial advisory, accounting and outsourcing recorded 23% growth while financial planning posted 18% growth, with the firm noting that performance was “strong” across all service lines.

Verity said: “I am proud that we have achieved another year of consistent growth and profitability. Our growth has been sustainable and provides an excellent foundation for the next three years”.

He added: “Looking ahead, we will continue to invest in our business to achieve further long-term sustainable growth. Strong financial results have been matched by innovation across the business, and commitment to society. Our people are critical to this and we remain dedicated to nurturing and developing talent to deliver trust, create value and offer exceptional service to our clients.”

Earlier this year, the firm appointed a new managing partner in Scotland and announced a move to a new office in Glasgow.
