Mazars appoints new managing partner in Scotland

Mazars has announced the appointment of a new managing partner in Scotland and the firm’s move to a new office in Glasgow.

Laura Clarkson becomes managing partner having been a partner at Mazars for five years. She has particular expertise in advisory services for the legal and healthcare sectors.

In her new role, Clarkson will continue to be client-facing and will take on additional responsibility for business development, client satisfaction and firm growth. She takes over as managing partner from Margaret Laidlaw, who moves on to focus on building the firm’s solution for SMEs – elev8 by Mazars.

The announcement comes as Mazars moves to a new office on Queen Street in Glasgow as part of a number of upgrades to the firm’s offices throughout the UK.

Clarkson said: “This move is a real statement of intent and a sign of our commitment to growing our presence in Glasgow. With state of the art technology in place, and a modern layout, 100 Queen Street reflects our contemporary approach to work. We are looking forward to welcoming clients through the doors over the coming weeks. I’m delighted to be at the helm during this exciting move: in recent years, we have grown significantly in Scotland and this move shows that we’re ready to build on that momentum.”

On her appointment as managing partner, Mazars UK senior partner Phil Verity said: “Laura’s deep business expertise, relentless focus on clients and affinity with the Scottish market make her the ideal office managing partner. Mazars in Scotland is comprised of offices in Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow.
