Top 50+50: Revenue rises spark rankings shake-up

In anticipation of the publication of the Top 50+50 on 4 October, here are eight highlights to watch out for in the rankings this week

The countdown has begun to the release of the Top 50+50 Accountancy Firms 2017! On 4 October, we’ll be announcing which firms have made it into the Top 100 firms in the UK, and throughout the week, we’ll be dissecting the data – exploring major trends across topics such as diversity, technology and the outlook for 2018.

In addition to the main rankings, over the next four weeks we’ll be producing additional tables, ranking firms by practice area, region and innovation, and in our Top 50+50 interview series, we’ll be speaking to the key figures behind the biggest accountancy stories of the year.

So, in anticipation of the publication of the Top 50+50, here are eight highlights to watch out for this week.

1. The Top 20 isn’t a replica of 2016

There have been changes, but which firms have been on the move?

2. 95 firms have recorded revenue growth in the past year

Impressive, but which firms posted a decline?

3. There are 19 new entries into the Top 100

But have the new kids caused any upsets?

4. One firm has moved up 13 places in the rankings

Does that put it in the Top 20, 40, or 50?

5. Partner numbers have decreased by 83 across the Big Four

Does that trend continue down the rest of the table?

6. The highest placed regional firm outside of London and South East is located in East Anglia

Can you guess who?

7. One firm has posted revenue growth of 88.26%

Has a rising star been born?

8. The number of partners at the Top 100 firms range from one to 956

What impact will this have on fees per partner?

Look out for the full Top 50+50 rankings on 4 October, and in the meantime, explore our latest news and analysis on UK accountancy firms, including recent people moves and firm developments.
