Taking Stock takes a trip down the Thames with the ICAS gang, with president Jim Pettigrew on top form
TAKING STOCK DOESN’T get many opportunities to hob-nob with lovely ICAS accountants on the Thames. So when the Scottish ‘tute invited TS on board the last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer, the Waverley, it was an easy decision to make.
Hosted by the hirsute former ICAP finance chief and now ICAS prez Jim Pettigrew, a great time was had by all. TS managed to stay dry, well, dry in the sense of not falling overboard, anyway.
Jim told the audience of several hundred ICAS members that there was commonality between the free efforts made by many people to keep the Waverley seaworthy, and the free efforts made by ICAS-qualifieds in helping their businesses and clients. Whether Jim meant this as a joke or not, it certainly got plenty of laughs.
