Myriam Madden becomes CIMA president
CIMA has elected Myriam Madden as president for the upcoming year, following an annual general meeting at the start of this month.
Having worked as deputy president during Keith Luck’s tenure, Madden has eight years’ experience in global governance roles at the organisation, including chair of the global Members’ Service Committee and a board member of the Audit and Risk Committee.
With a specialisation in finance and operational transformation within the public sector, financial services and internationally in global blue-chip companies, Madden becomes president at a significant time for CIMA.
The organisation has joined with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and plans to establish the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) as a worldwide quality standard for accounting, as well as continuing its promotion of management accounting in business.
Of her new position, she said: “CIMA has a valuable asset in its global community of students and members – one of my ambitions is to galvanise them to be confident advocates for CIMA and the management accounting profession.”
She added: “CIMA’s strategic initiatives will be more successful if they reflect the enthusiasm, energy and diverse ideas of our members and students.”
Madden has led change programs and finance functions within a range of companies, including Hewlett Packard, Scottish Arts Council and the NHS. She becomes CIMA’s 82nd president.
