BAKER TILLY has announced the areas in which it will merge the offices of RSM Tenon with its own.
The firm plans to integrate the RSM Tenon offices in six regions: London, Milton Keynes, Basingstoke, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Stoke, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
According to the Top Ten firm, the offices in these areas will begin merging in early 2014. A spokesman for Baker Tilly said there were no planned redundancies. However, the integration review will look at duplicate roles, with an idea of whether redundancies and how many of them are expected, to be announced next year.
RSM Tenon rebranded, via its registered titles, to Baker Tilly earlier this month. Baker Tilly now has more than 4,000 partners, and 50 offices across the UK.
Laurence Longe (pictured), Baker Tilly national managing partner, said: ‘The process of fully integrating the two firms will take some time, but this rebranding exercise is an important first step in establishing the Baker Tilly brand as one of the largest accountancy firms in the UK.
‘While this merger significantly increases Baker Tilly’s national presence, we will remain focused on our core base of owner managed businesses, smaller listed companies and public sector clients, and we are determined to retain a local touch.’
Earlier this year listed firm RSM Tenon announced it was in merger discussions with Baker Tilly. However, in August Baker Tilly announced it was walking away from the deal, only to buy the trading operation from the parent company, which entered administration, via a pre-pack that same day.
A pre-pack is where an administrator markets a business and lines up a buyer prior to it entering administration. The whole or part of a business is sold immediately on appointment of an administrator.
