PwC partner makes £2.6m racism claim
Dunstan Pedropillai accuses PwC of racism, and that he was paid less than white colleagues
A SRI LANKAN-BORN PwC partner has sued the firm for £2.6m, claiming it has an “Anglo-Saxon male culture” that restricted his career at the firm.
Dunstan Pedropillai, 47, is making the claim in an employment tribunal, accusing PwC of racism and paying him less than white colleagues.
When he complained about suspected racial discrimination at the firm, he was threatened with the sack, he claimed, reported the Evening Standard.
Pedropillai, who joined the firm in 1986, became a partner in 1997. However, his career began to falter and he was given small high-risk clients to deal with. His lawyer, Christopher Jeans, said Pedropillai’s face didn’t fit.
Suzanne McKie of PwC said the firm denied the claims and his career fell away due to poor people skills. White peers of his were also made redundant during the recession, she added.
