Glass breaks out to lead institute
UCM Timber Group FD George Glass has been made the new president of CIMA.
Glass has been in the CIMA council since 2000 and chaired the institute’s
technical committee from 2005 to 2007. He has been a member of CIMA since 1977.
Glass said: “At a time when economic recovery is still looking precarious in
many regions of the world, and with urgent threats to the environment, CIMA
members have never been so key to driving the global economy forwards.
“In order to do this, it is important that organisations around the world are
working to long-term business models. We need to make our businesses sustainable
in the long-term, both commercially and environmentally.”
The new deputy president for CIMA is Harold Baird, to construction company SJ
Anderson & Sons, while the vice president in Gulzari Babber who runs his own
accountancy practice in Harrow.
