Insider Business: Shared services

Using shared services to cut costs and improve business processes

In the current economic climate the spotlight is on finance and other
business support functions to drive efficiencies and cost savings. Shared
services centres are seen by many as a way to strip costs out of core business
functions. But is it just about low-cost labour or can shared service centres
drive a broader agenda that can improve the bottom line?

Discussing these issues with host Rachel Fielding are:

  • Niamh O’Brien, shared services advisor at IBM Global Business Services;
  • Tony Virdi, board director at the National Outsourcing Association;
  • Chris Tiernan, managing director of Grosvenor Consultancy Services;
  • Angela Cha, partner at Pinsent Masons.
