Not any old Tom, Dick or Harry.
It is about time that someone did something about the so-called cowboy accountants and put us on the same commercial footing as other professionals such as doctors and solicitors.
I do not see any ‘Tom, Dick or Harry’ setting up in their back bedrooms after an evening course and calling themselves doctors or solicitors.
Why not? Is this not a restriction of competition?
Why should it be anti-competitive to restrict the term accountant to those who worked hard to become qualified? When will someone in power dig their heads out of ‘the sand’ and become aware of the plight of the small practitioner?
