Trader wins what is believed to be the first claim for withheld VAT from the taxman in relation to carousel fraud investigations
The first trader has been paid withheld VAT from the taxman under its
extended verification policy.
Dass Solicitors claimed it had won the £400,000 repayment on behalf of an
anonymous client, after the taxman had withheld the money while it investigated
whether its supply chain was involved in missing trader or ‘carousel’ fraud.
The solicitors are set to claim another repayment for a client in the
millions of pounds, reported
Mobile
News.
Accountancy Age revealed back in January that losing its landmark
case against Livewire could cost the taxman hundreds of millions of pounds, a
decision they appealed.
