At the annual CIPFA jamboree TS caught up with Richard Sykes QC, chairman of the financial reporting review panel.
Sykes was keen to point out he is just plain old Mr Sykes, and not Sir Richard, as Accountancy Age generously dubbed him.
The knighted version is in fact chairman of GlaxoSmithKline. Still, we gain comfort in the knowledge that we were not the only ones to get confused.
A group of animal rights protesters targeted Sir Richard, but got the wrong address. Our own Sykes was forced to increase security at his chambers.
