BDO in move for Andersen in Croydon
BDO Stoy Hayward is on the brink of taking over the Croydon office of Big Five firm Andersen.
BDO Stoy Hayward is on the brink of taking over the Croydon office of Big Five firm Andersen.
The mid-tier firm, the sixth largest in the country with fee income of £200m, has confirmed that it is involved in detailed negotiations to acquire the office.
A statement released by BDO said the talks, underway for the past two weeks, were still at an early stage and were expected to be concluded by the end of August.
The Croydon office of Andersen is believed to have some ‘very large’ clients, which would be an enormous boost for BDO if they were to remain after the take over.
Andersen said today that only two partners and 20 staff would change hands as part of the deal. An enterprise team based in Croydon will remain with Andersen.
A statement from BDO said: ‘BDO Stoy Hayward can confirm that it is in negotiations with the Croydon office of Andersen to take over all or part of its business. These negotiations are, however, still at an early stage, while both parties discuss the best course of action to ensure minimum disruption for both clients and staff of the Andersen office. It is expected that an official agreement will be announced towards the end of August.’
A spokesman for Andersen said the two firms were still in talks and would not say why the Croydon practice was leaving the firm.
