Remote working has become the new normal since the UK entered lockdown on March 23, and since then, the accountancy industry has had to quickly adapt to a new working environment.

As firms moved quickly to pivot processes to allow for remote working, accountants have raised concerns over a variety of new hurdles.

While freeware can bridge the gap to a certain extent, the industry is having to fundamentally change the way it operates – both internally and externally.

From a distance, we sat down with Nicky Owen, tax partner at Crowe UK, to discuss these concerns, what government support accountants can utilise, the increased need for client and team communication, and the best ways to mitigate the costs of remote working.
