Mazars acquires healthcare company Hall Liddy

Mazars has announced the acquisition of Hall Liddy, a medical accounting firm in the NorthWest, with over 2,600 clients.

“The healthcare sector has always been extremely important to us,” commented Margaret Laidlaw, Mazars‘ head of entrepreneurial business. “We are constantly looking for ways to deliver exceptional service and help our clients manage and grow their businesses.”

Hall Liddy’s reputation within the healthcare sector for its expertise and focus on clients are the key reasons behind Mazars investment, according to Laidlaw.

Mazars intends to incorporate Hall Liddy into its own healthcare sector team, to create one of the largest providers of tax services, accounting and advice to GPs and medical consultants nationwide.

“Having worked with GP Practices and medical consultants for nearly 30 years,” said Des Liddy, partner at Hall Liddy. “We understand that the sector is unique: it requires specialist knowledge and a thorough understanding of the specific challenges and issues the sector faces.”

Meeting client demands

The acquisition comes as the digital boom hits the healthcare sector, with clients increasingly demanding more from accounting services.

“We also recognise that the healthcare landscape is changing,” said Liddy. “Joining Mazars will allow us to offer a broader range of advisory services for clients combined with adoption of the latest technology, tools and systems, while seamlessly maintaining the bespoke service and personal relationships our clients value”.

Mazars aims to combine Hall Liddy’s expertise and client support with its own range of digital solutions for compliance, payroll, tax and company secretarial services, all delivered by the cloud.

All 31 people of the Hall Liddy team will join Mazars’ Manchester office. The existing management team – Des Liddy, Andrew Pow, and Melanie Thomas – will join the Mazars’ partnership following the acquisition. David Hall will join Mazars on a consultancy basis.

“This move reflects the strong demand for specialist advice and expertise across the region,” said Tim Hudson, Manchester office managing partner at Mazars. “We are delighted to continue our impressive growth in our core markets and services and to continue to invest in talented teams with specialist sector experience,” he said.
