KPMG is on track with their long-term ambition of growing their legal services across the UK, with the latest appointment of Peter Workman earlier this month.
In a statement, the Big Four firm said: “[Workman] joins as a partner from PwC, where he led the Midlands corporate legal practice and PwC’s flexible lawyer offering.”
With KPMG, Workman will be leading a team of nine who specialise in business structuring and transactions.
“Bringing Peter on board to head up the Midlands legal services hub marks another important milestone in the development of our offering, both in the UK and globally,” said Nick Roome, partner and UK head of legal services at KPMG.
“I look forward to working with the Midlands legal services hub, the wider KPMG network, and [helping to add] value for clients.”
Workman’s team will also focus on domestic and cross-border group reorganisations, M&As and transactions, too.
Roome continued: “Peter’s previous Big Four legal experience means he is part of a growing breed of lawyer that is increasingly in demands—ideally placed to support our clients with the challenges and disruption they face.”
Working closely with KPMG’s tax, accounting, consulting, and deal advisory teams, Workman will be drawing on his 15 years of experience with London corporate teams from international law firms, such as Herbert Smith, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and King & Wood Mallesons.
“His breadth of knowledge and broader business perspective, combined with high quality legal expertise and ability to operate effectively within a multidisciplinary professional services environment, will significantly enhance what we can offer,” said Roome.

This announcement follows the recent appointment of the new head of Legal Operations & Transformation Services (LOTS).
