900 employees promoted at BDO

BDO recently announced that 900 employees have been promoted across the business; they cover areas such as audit, tax, and advisory practices, as well as supporting roles for these three functions.

It has been a successful year for the top ten firm, having reported a revenue of £464m in 2017-18. This is a 20% increase in firm profits since 2016-17.

Paul Eagland, managing partner at BDO, said: “We have had a strong year of growth, and that is down to the hard work and determination of our people.”

As well as wide-scale promotions across the business, BDO has attracted over 60 new partners in the last two years, adding to their intake of 300 new trainees. Despite the challenges faced in the current climate, BDO is continuing to grow.

“In what has been a challenging year for the profession, we have seen our people continue to develop and innovate to provide the best possible service to our clients,” Eagland added. “Celebrating the promotions of almost a quarter of our people is testament to that.”

As well as rewarding the hard work of their employees through promotions, the firm has continued to focus on the importance of supporting mental health and well-being in the workplace, by investing in their programme. As well this, they are offering ‘performance under pressure’ resilience training to all 4,000 employees.

Encouraging continual growth in a time where stagnation caused by uncertainty is running rife, BDO has highlighted the importance of driving forward and adapting.

The managing partner at BDO concluded: “The rise in technology, globalisation, and social pressures means the divisions between our personal and professional lives have become increasingly blurred. Having happy and healthy people who feel supported by the firm is hugely important.

“Our vision is to create a positive working environment where people can thrive and bring their best selves to work each day.”
