Top ten firm Moore Stephens has been appointed as the forensic accountant to the former Olympic Stadium, as part of the Mayor of London’s review into the London Stadium.
The firm will lead an investigation into past decision making and financial sustainability of the stadium following a project to transform it after the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games. The project’s initial budget of £115m in 2014 grew to £323m in 2016.
The project involved transforming the stadium into a “multi-use arena that would help bring large number of people and employers to the local area”, said the firm. In 2013, West Ham United Football Club was granted a 99-year tenancy, and the club moved into the stadium in 2016.
