Baldwins appoints new corporate finance chief and invests in the North East

THE FIRM, Baldwins Accountancy Group, has continued investment in the north-east and appointed David Fish as a director of its Corporate Finance Team.

John Baldwin, director at Baldwins, said: “Investment in this newly-created role underlines commitment to the north-east, the strong business community and local economy. David arrives with valuable financial experience, combined with his detailed knowledge of the region.”

The appointment follows two recent acquisitions of Rowlands Accountants and Evolution by Baldwins, building a network of offices covering Hexham, Ponteland, Portobello, Crook, Sunderland, Alnwick, Newcastle and Wynyard.

Fish said: “A number of these locations haven’t had access to corporate finance before, so one of my key focuses will be working with our clients and introducing local businesses to different ways they can grow their business.”

Baldwins has an annual turnover of £40m and employs more than 600 staff, and is currently undergoing a nationwide expansion plan which has seen it acquire a wide range of other accountancy firms so far this year.

David Fish, continued: “We are currently seeing a trend of business owners looking to plan for their succession, so a lot of work is going into developing exit strategies to ensure business continues to grow.”

Fish has more than 17 years’ experience across corporate finance, auditing and accounting in the north-east. He has spent the last three years working as a finance director within a high growth business and previously he was an associate within local accountancy practices for 13 years, specialising in corporate finance.
