WMT appoints second partner in three months

HERTFORDSHIRE based WMT has appointed Paula Jeffs as private client partner to lead WMT’s rapidly expanding personal tax team.

This is the firm’s second partner appointment in three months. Peter Davies, an employment tax specialist who also heads the firm’s hospitality practice, was promoted to partner in June 2016.

A chartered tax advisor, Jeffs specialises in tax planning, particularly the protection and distribution of wealth through inheritance tax planning and the use of trusts. She also advises on tax planning relating to residency and domicile, income tax, capital gains, and property, as well as the tax implications of separation and divorce. She re-joins WMT after three years at MHA MacIntyre Hudson.

Former HMRC inspector, Davies, advises employers on the full range of employment tax issues including HMRC enquiries and investigations. He helps over 130 hotels and restaurants to meet their legal and tax obligations when remunerating staff, particularly when distributing service charges and tips to employees.

Anne-Maree Dunn, partner and head of tax said: ‘We are delighted to appoint Paula as our private client partner. Her skills in advising on a wide range of private client matters will expand the specialist advice we provide to clients. Peter has developed a stand-out service and created a strong presence for us in the hospitality sector. As our advisory team grows, we remain true to our joined-up, big-picture approach to advising private individuals and businesses.”
