KPMG appoints Nimmo as new UK head of restructuring
Nimmo has worked on insolvency appointments such as Scottish Coal, Ferguson Shipbuilders and Dunfermline Building Society
KPMG has promoted Blair Nimmo to UK Head of Restructuring following the departure of Mark Firmin who is leaving the Big Four firm.
Firmin leaves having only been in the role since October 2014.
Nimmo was previously head of KPMG’s restructuring practice in Scotland and with immediate effect, now oversees around 550 restructuring staff who between then amassed over £100m in fees last year.

Our restructuring practice is market-leading and, despite relatively benign economic conditions in the UK, is securing the most high profile projects, such as the administration of First Oil Expro Limited.
“Unsurprisingly, in uncertain economic conditions, restructuring businesses are attractive prospects to trade and private equity buyers and we have already seen deal activity in the sector. We have recently received an offer for our own restructuring practice but have declined this offer as the business is an integral and profitable component of our multi-disciplinary firm.

Firmin was made partner in the Leeds office in 2006 before being promoted to KPMG’s Northern head of restructuring in 2009. In 2011 he was made regional head of restructuring, and before takin the top job three years later.
