SENIOR Deloitte tax partner Bill Dodwell is set to retire from the Big For firm, Accountancy Age understands.
Dodwell, a well-known and vocal figure in the tax profession, currently leads Deloitte’s Tax Policy Group, which oversees tax knowledge, training, and government representations.
The tax partner, who began his career at defunct accountancy firm Arthur Andersen in 1989, frequently discusses consultations with the OECD, HM Treasury and HMRC.
Dodwell is also a fellow of the CIoT, where he currently serves as vice president. The institute has him lined up to become president from 2017, but will first serve a term as the group’s deputy president, starting from May this year.
The CIoT vice president previously served as a member of the interim advisory panel on GAAR, and also chairs the CIoT’s technical committee.
Oft-quoted in the media, he spoke on the 2013 Starbucks tax controversy, saying its activities were “unquestionably legal“.
