EY appoints PwC partner as new UK head of business assurance

EY has appointed long-serving PwC partner Chris Brown as head of its business assurance practice in the UK and Ireland.

Brown, who also joins as partner, will lead a team providing a broad range of EY’s non-audit assurance services, including financial accounting advisory services, internal audit, corporate treasury, capital markets and climate change and sustainability services.

He joins from PwC where he spent 16 years in both the assurance and consulting businesses and 11 years as a partner. Brown also worked for Deloitte and for the National Audit Office.

Hywel Ball, head of EY’s UK assurance practice, said: “Chris will be heading up a team of over 400 professionals across the UK. He brings a wealth of experience, both as a consultant and provider of assurance advice, and his appointment will be a real asset to our practice.

“The assurance business has had a cracking year so far, having been proposed as auditors to a number of high profile FTSE 100 companies including Royal Dutch Shell and Sainsbury’s.”
