SHIPLEYS, the London and Godalming-based accountants, has appointed Simon Robinson as its managing principal.
Robinson will be responsible for the firm’s overall management and practice, implementing the firm’s strategy, overseeing the development of its people and maintaining client service. He takes over from Ken Roberts, who steps down after four years in the role and is returning full-time to client work.
After qualifying with HW Fisher and Co, Robinson, he worked at KPMG before joining Shipleys in 1989 and becoming a principal in 1995. His expertise lies in providing accountancy and tax services to clients in entertainment and media, professional practices, owner-managed business, IT, retail and to private clients.
Commenting on his new role, Robinson said: “It’s a privilege to take on the position and I am looking forward to the challenge of building on our success to date and guiding the future development of the firm”.
Shipleys has also promoted Rob Wood to principal. Wood, who works predominantly with clients in the financial services sector, joined Shipleys in 2007 and was promoted to a manager in 2011.
In March, the firm offloaded its insolvency work to Leonard Curtis in order to concentrate on its core business.
The firm comes in at 47 in the 2014 Accountancy Age Top 50+50 survey of firms, with £12.4m in revenues.
