Mazars brings in senior banking head

A FORMER senior head at the Central Bank of Ireland has joined Mazars.

Jonathan McMahon, former head of financial institutions for the Central Bank of Ireland, has joined Mazars as global head of bank regulation and restructuring.

He will be responsible for providing global financial services clients with advice on how to deal with the regulatory and business model changes following the financial crisis.

McMahon was involved in the restructuring of the Irish banking system, and negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, the European Commission and European Central Bank. He previously worked at Promontory Financial Group and at the FSA and Deloitte in London, where he specialised in banking and financial sector issues.

He said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to join Mazars’ banking practice at this time of change for the financial services industry. In the coming years, many banks will have to make very significant changes to their balance sheets and business models, Mazars has extensive practical experience of the actions required to effect these changes.
