A FORMER Ernst & Young partner has claimed corruption takes place at the firm at a recent High Court hearing.
The allegation came up in a High Court battle between Cathal Lyons and Ernst & Young Russia, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Lyons claims he reported concerns about alleged corruption at the firm to the practice’s director of global tax and was subsequently dismissed and his health insurance terminated.
In 2006 he was involved in a serious road accident resulting in permanent disabilities and partial amputation. He continued to work for the Big Four firm in a reduced role until his dismissal in 2010.
Subsequently his medical insurance was withdrawn which he believes is a direct breach of a previous agreement he had with Ernst & Young to receive cover for life.
An E&Y spokesman told the publication: “Ernst & Young are confident that there is no substance whatsoever to this vague and unsubstantiated allegation of some supposed wrongdoing. These employment related proceedings will continue to be vigorously contested.”
