Acid attack followed failed race discrimination case
An accountant has been jailed indefinitely after throwing acid at the legal
team who worked on his race discrimination case.
According to the
Daily
Telegraph Ashok Mahajan threw hydrocloric acid at a barrister, a
solicitor and a pupil. The pupil suffered injuries to an eye.
Mahajan was jailed indefinitiely because of the risk he posed to the legal
profession.
The case was heard by Judge Nicholas Lorraine-Smith at Southwark Crown Court.
He ordered that Mahajan would not be assessed for parole for five years.
Mahajan denied three counts of causing grievous bodily harm. He launched his
attack after hearing that his race discrimination case had been thrown out. The
original trial took place in June this year.
