Barclays snaps up Lehmans US arm for £140m

Barclays has paid £140m in cash to buy Lehman Brothers’ US business.

The bank will also acquire the New York headquarters of Lehman Brothers as
well as its two data centres for £800m.

The deal means Barclays will acquire Lehman’s trading assets with a current
estimated value of £40bn and trading liabilities with a current estimated value
of £38bn.
