The next generation of taxpayers was targeted this week by the Chartered Institute of Taxation as it launched its Tax Advice Week
The youngest member of the CIoT’s representative tax family, Jack Taxable,
this week posted his profile on social networking website Facebook, and the CIoT
created a tax adviser avatar in virtual world Second Life.
The institute also flagged up ‘Meet the people behind the CIoT’ videos on
YouTube, and offered podcasts through Apple’s iTunes.
Although the Taxables may seem a typical tax family, they got rather better
access to the taxman than most, meeting HMRC director general Dave Hartnett and
CIoT head Rob Ellerby.
But as the furore over the capital gains tax changes in the pre-Budget report
grows, Hartnett declined to answer any questions from the press.
