PCG welcomes changes to IR35 guidance
The Professional Contractors Group, the dogged anti-IR35 campaigner, has 'cautiously welcomed' the Inland Revenue's amended guidance on status assessment.
The Professional Contractors Group, the dogged anti-IR35 campaigner, has 'cautiously welcomed' the Inland Revenue's amended guidance on status assessment.
Commenting on the Revenue’s Employment Status Manuals, PCG chairman Jane Akshar, said: ‘These changes have been a long time coming and they certainly haven’t addressed all of our serious concerns, but they are a move in the right direction and we are pleased that our negotiations are yielding positive results.’
She went onto say that the changes would ‘bring clarification to what has been a very unclear situation’.
The manuals include clarifications on ‘duration of contract’ and ‘provisions of equipment’ and the relevance of indicators of ‘Being in Business on Your Own Account’.
The PCG claims the changes were made on guidance delivered to the Revenue, and said it would continue to work with the Taxman in this regard, on behalf of its members.
