The English ICA has warned the government that e-crime could escalate unless adequate security systems are in place.
Responding to the Department of Trade and Industry’s consultation on future crime trends, the English ICA said growth in e-commerce will ‘bring about increased crime rates unless adequate steps are taken to protect against this risk’.
The Institute has identified the following as key threats to e-commerce:
Felicity Banks, secretary of the institute’s business law committee, said: ‘The DTI’s timely consultation identifies a real problem. The recent growth in e-commerce has been dramatic. The profession, businesses and government alike need to identify way in which risk attendant to the new economy can be reduced.’
