PKF set to help failing LEAs

Pannell Kerr Forster has been added to a list of approved education providers used to intervene in running the growing number of failing local education authorities in the UK.
The mid-tier firm – which is working as part of a consortium with education provider Prospects and law firm Nabarro Nathanson – would offer support and advice from its management consultancy practice on issues such as improving management techniques.
The government’s Department for Education and Employment maintains a framework contract of approved providers to work with LEAs. Those approved for the list are used when inspection reports from education regulator OFSTED identify serious failings. The list of consultants and education service providers has been extended to support the growing number of education authority interventions.
‘The admittance to the framework document is the first step for us to support improvements in education and we are delighted to have been added to the government’s tender list,’ said PKF partner Malcolm Dennett.
‘If we were to be appointed, the level and nature of intervention will be unique depending on individual circumstances. The work that we might have to undertake would involve support and advice on a number of issues including management and improvement across a range of functions within the LEA and in school education delivery with our consortium partners.’
