Ernst & Young yesterday launched a law firm staffed by and partly named after PricewaterhouseCooper's law arm, formerly known as Arnheim Tite and Lewis.
E&Y’s new firm, called Tite & Lewis, opened in London following three years of research by the accountancy firm.
As well as poaching 15 solicitors, E&Y has also poached senior PwC lawyers Christopher Tite and Mark Lewis following six weeks of talks with E&Y chairman Nick Land.
PwC later changed the name of its law firm from Arnheim Tite & Lewis to Landwell.
PwC, Arthur Andersen and KPMG have already launched law firms, although they have yet to make a big impression on the major traditional legal players.
Deloitte & Touche is now the only Big Five firm without a law firm and a spokesman today said the firm had no immediate plans to launch a law arm.
However John Connolly, D&T senior partner and CEO has said the firm might consider acquiring a mid-sized law firm in 18 months time.
