Nissan UK founder Octav Botnar has agreed to pay #59m to the Inland Revenue in an out-of-court settlement to end civil proceedings against the company, which originally faced claims of around #200m in unpaid tax. The Revenue said the arrest warrant, issued in 1992 in connection with fraud allegations at Nissan UK, which had sole rights to import Nissan cars until 1990, would still be served if Botnar returned from his home in Switzerland.
