PW report predicts rise in mergers and alliances
Corporate mergers and strategic alliances are set to more than double over the next 12 months, a Price Waterhouse survey has predicted.
Nearly a third of companies willing to divulge their intentions were planning mergers or strategic alliances, compared to 14% who went ahead with such deals last year.
Acquisitions also look set to rise, planned by 63% of companies for the coming year, compared with the 59% who have made acquisitions in the last 12 months. But disposals are set to decrease by nearly a third.
John Harley, head of M&A Europe at PW, said: ‘Acquiring companies will have to work harder to source companies. Only half the UK companies in the survey considered themselves to always have a proactive approach to acquisitions.’
