Job Role


Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients
  • Responsible for advising on the following taxes:  Income tax, Corporate Tax, VAT, Research and Development, P11D, Form 42
  • Maintain detailed working knowledge of the impact on tax in respect of changes to accounting standards and guidelines
  • Prepare personal, partnership and corporation tax returns, particularly the more complex cases, along with reviewing working paper files prepared by other members of the team
  • Reporting to the Tax Director
  • Follow existing systems, update them, and develop new ones as appropriate

  • One trainee

Analytical and judgemental skills:          

  • To formulate reasoned views and recommendations, tempering technical knowledge with commercialism to address complex issues, seeking consultation where required.  Good practical judgement
  • Accurate attention to detail.  Working to deadlines

Communication skills:                  

  • To speak with confidence in all client handling situations
  • To write clear, concise presentations and correspond efficiently with colleagues
  • To identify key issues from file reviews and discussions

  • To demonstrate utmost integrity, tact self motivation and drive.  Can do attitude, sense of urgency.
  • Able to gain the trust of clients and fellow professionals and support them
  • Organised and capable of managing several tasks and priorities at once, multi-tasking while keeping goals in sight

Qualifications and experience

  • ATT and preferably CTA  qualified with experience of both personal and corporate tax
  • Up to date knowledge of tax legislation
  • IRIS software ideally
