AJ Chambers are currently representing a leading independent firm of chartered accountants and chartered tax advisors who are seeking a Personal Tax Senior for their office in Slough. Working alongside a team of experienced professionals, this position offers superb exposure and excellent opportunities for progression.

The Role

As Personal Tax Senior, you will take responsibility for providing quality client service to a portfolio of personal tax clients including high net worth individuals, directors, sole traders and partnerships.

Day-to-day duties include:

  • Preparation of both routine and complex personal tax returns including capital gains tax computations, share scheme disclosures and rental income accounts for individuals, trusts, and non-resident companies
  • Reviewing Sole Trader and Partnership tax computations and capital allowance claims
  • Communicating directly with clients on all aspects of their personal tax affairs and be able to explain their tax position to them without the use of technical language as required
  • Calculate and advise on pension planning
  • Contribute to advising non-UK residents, non-UK domiciles and be aware of ATED compliance
  • Handle correspondence with HMRC, including notices of enquiry
  • Resolve notice of coding errors and changes on behalf of clients directly with HMRC
  • Complete / review P11Ds and P11D(b) and handle STBV reporting
  • Be able to deal with ad-hoc technical queries from other teams e.g. payroll / accounts
  • Identify areas of risk and highlight these matters to the manager and relationship partner
  • Carry out AML compliance in accordance with the firm’s policy
  • Keep up to date with relevant technical matters
  • Manage work in progress and billing of work
  • To market and promote the services of the department and the practice to new and existing clients

 

The Candidate

  • ATT qualified
  • Circa 5 years personal tax experience, within an accountancy practice
  • Experience of managing a portfolio of clients
  • Possess excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Fully conversant with current tax issues and conversant with relevant legislation 
  • Experience of CCH would be advantageous
