This demanding but rewarding role will allow you to apply your professional expertise in external audit and make a major contribution to public accountability at a key time in the economic development of the Island.
A sub-tropical island of spectacular and beautiful landscapes in the South Atlantic with a warm and friendly population of 4,500, St Helena is a self-governing overseas territory of the UK. With the opening of an international airport in 2017 there is now a weekly scheduled flight from Johannesburg with onward international connections.
Reporting to the Chief Auditor you will manage the operations of the Audit St Helena with prime responsibility for leading the planning and delivery of financial and performance audits in accordance with international standards across a diverse portfolio of public sector bodies. You will also lead the management of audit methodologies, systems and quality control.
As a qualified accountant you will have proven experience in managing ISA compliant external audits ideally in a public sector environment. With strong practice management skills you will be confident in managing resources to deliver audit engagements to time and quality standards. You will also know how to engage with clients to maintain effective communication and provide technical leadership adding value to the statutory audit process.
In addition to salary we offer an extensive benefits package including tax-free international supplement, relocation allowance, fare-paid return travel and intra-contract leave, and contribution to pension.
