An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional seeking a part-time role to join Devon Financial Services as a Head Accountant. Reporting directly to the Senior Assistant County Treasurer, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic advice and ensure the provision of comprehensive financial services across a wide range of disparate services.

The post holder will also lead a small well-established team in providing a financial management service to budget holders, senior managers and elected members. The role is pivotal in ensuring systems and operations are in place for accurate financial reporting, forecasting, budget planning and modelling to inform both operational and strategic planning. The post holder will lead a finance team of six that supports a diverse range of Service functions including Planning, Transportation and Environment, Economy, Enterprise and Skills, some experience in managing and supporting externally funded projects is desirable but not essential.

The role is suited to:

· An effective communicator with first class interpersonal skills

· Confident in dealing with senior management

· Excellent IT and analytical skills

· A sound understanding of accounting principles is essential

· The ability to organise and prioritise often conflicting workloads to achieve deadlines accurately and on time.
