Oxford Bus Company and its associated companies Thames Travel, Carousel Buses and City Sightseeing Oxford operate 270 buses and coaches in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and surrounding counties, and to central London, Heathrow and Gatwick airports. The business is part of the FTSE 250 company Go-Ahead Group plc, (one of the “big 5” public transport operators in the UK) and during the past 18 months, has acquired a new subsidiary, alongside launching the award-winning “PickMeUp,” the UK’s largest demand responsive bus service.
There is currently a vacancy for a Financial Controller to join the team at our head office in Cowley, Oxford. Reporting to the Finance & Commercial Director, the successful candidate will manage a team of 6 staff and will sit on the Senior Management Team of the business.
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for representing finance on the Senior Management Team and support executive decision-making with sound financial analysis and business performance information. Furthermore, you will business partner with relevant departmental managers, to ensure KPI’s are on target, whilst also provide financial support with business change projects. In addition, you will be expected to produce annual budgets, forecasts, process improvement efficiencies and cost reduction exercises to contribute towards the company-wide strategic initiatives. Finally, you will take responsibility for all aspects of financial control and management reporting, as well as the day-to-day running of the finance team and function.
To be successful you will need to be ACA, ACCA CIMA Qualified, with strong previous management experience and ideally 2+years post-qualified experience in a commercial environment. Furthermore, you have experience implementing and improving financial controls, whilst also demonstrating an inquisitive mind, with a proven track record of problem solving, attention to detail and meeting deadlines. You will be a self-starter, confident communicator with high attention to detail and possess a pragmatic approach, coupled with a sense of humour. Experience of Oracle Financials, Sharepoint and/or Microsoft Power BI would be an advantage but is not essential.
£50,000-£55,000 per annum (experience dependent)
