A fantastic role with a retailer in Manchester City Centre. The role will have involvement in the monthly management accounts and analysis of financial reporting

Description
  • Assist in preparation of management accounts to be issued within 4 working days of month end. Key areas of responsibility will include carriage costs, warehouse costs, merchant costs and fixed costs with the opportunity to get more exposure to other areas of the P+L and balance sheet.
  • Delegate month end tasks to junior members of the team wanting exposure to the accounts for personal development.
  • Report department costs to management and department heads, including analysis of key trends and changes, and identifying potential risks and opportunities in our financial reporting and costs.
  • Help to develop reporting pack as business reporting requirements increase over time.
  • Review month end process and suggest improvements in procedures.
  • Contribute to VAT & Intrastat analysis and submissions for numerous EU countries.
  • Preparation of daily, weekly and monthly cash flow forecasting.
  • Review and analysis of customer claims and refunds to identify key trend and risks to the business, reporting of these to management and identifying and suggesting potential process improvements.
  • Management of claims against our carrier network for failures in service including calculation and submission of all claims and reconciliation of claims against agreed refunds. Reporting on carrier claims and recoveries on a monthly basis to senior management within finance and logistics.
  • Management and analysis of merchant performance, claims and chargebacks. Working closely with customer service team and fraud teams to identify trends in claims / chargebacks and actions required to address these. Monthly reporting on merchant performance and fraud metrics to senior management to assess actions to be taken




  • Profile
  • Good communications skills.
  • Advanced in excel is a must.
  • Familiarity with SQL reporting.
  • Highly numerical and analytical.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Qualified or Part Qualified in CIMA, ACCA or ACA.
  • The ability to adapt in a fast paced environment and prioritise effectively
