Robert Half Finance & Accounting are hiring a Hedge Accountant to join an SME growing financial services advisory firm in London's West End.
The role is comprised of highly quantitative and technical accounting work and frequent consulting with clients at the highest levels of accounting and finance in their organisations. Individuals in this role have strong accounting skills and an interest in technical accounting (IFRS 9/IAS 39/ IFRS 13). Members of this small team spend time advising clients on the most suitable hedging strategies, running and analysing effectiveness tests, drafting hedge designation memos, creating inputs for future journal entries and running and reviewing monthly hedge accounting reports for clients.
They develop an excellent understanding not only of the accounting but also of the underlying economics of interest rate, foreign exchange and commodities hedging, interacting daily with traders. The consultants are responsible for all relationships with the clients in their assigned portfolio, directly communicating with CFOs or Heads of Treasury, but there is constant collaboration and peer review prior to sending deliverables to clients.
The successful Hedge Accountant at this derivatives focused financial services advisory firm must be a qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA) with a strong understanding of accounting standards. The Hedge Accountant will be newly qualified or have up to three years post qualified experience either in practice or within a relevant industry role such as Treasury. Experience of Hedge Accounting or derivatives is NOT essential however an interest to learn about this area is fundamental.
My client is an independent financial risk management firm based in London's West End. With a small team of 20 in London and 500 employees across the world, they are a growing business in terms of both head count and revenue.
