Role: Financial Accountant

Robert Half are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join a not for profit business based in central Bristol. As the Financial Accountant you will take responsibility of the financial accounting for the organisation ensuring that the financial accounts are prepared to a high level of accuracy, owning accountability and providing challenge when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the accurate production of the Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cashflow Statement, ensuring strong reconciliations are maintained through continuous improvement.
  • The monitoring of the Balance Sheet control codes and active management over fixed assets, payables, receivables and other balance sheet balances.
  • Supporting the organisation and team to appropriately order and acquire goods and services.
  • Responsible for management of the Company's Treasury Management and Capitalisation policies ensuring that cash flow is effectively managed and investment returns maximised.
  • Responsible for ensuring all month end processes of the finance team are completed on time and to appropriate quality standards.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the required working papers to support the production of the Annual Accounts and working with external audit.
  • Support the Deputy Finance Director through the annual External Audit with a specific contribution to the fieldwork.
  • Ensure that the system of financial control (including the Scheme of Delegation and Financial Policies & Procedures) is fit for purpose and is sufficient to comply with audit standards
  • Responsible for the financial returns to HMRC and Companies House
  • Responsible for the production of cost saving plans through procurement
  • Responsible for co-ordination and presentation of financial information and adherence to financial deadlines in relation to PAYE, Pension Agency, Customs and Excise.
  • Responsible for the day to day management and monitoring of the accounting service & payroll provider and contracted procurement .
  • Support the processes for ensuring the organisation is appropriately insured.
  • Support the Deputy Finance Director in the preparation and development of the finance reports that are presented to the Senior Management Team and the Board.
  • Management & development of a small team of staff
  • Represent the Deputy Finance Director at meetings as required.


Experience:
  • Significant financial management experience in a complex organisation and able to demonstrate operational effectiveness at this level
  • Experience of preparing financial statements for Board reporting
  • Experience of developing and implementing robust financial controls
  • Experience of leading, managing and developing a team
  • Experience of successfully negotiating and managing service contracts
  • Experience of being part of an annual accounts process.

Salary: £33,000 - £41,000
