The Role

You will report to the Investment Fund Manager and be responsible for managing the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and the Defined Contribution Schemes (DCS). You will be responsible for all accounting relating to the schemes, including closing the accounts and liaising with the auditors. It will be critical to keep up and interpret new legislation and all factors that will impact on the council and pension funds, advising on performance and compliance. Managing internal stakeholders such as members of the Pension Committee and Pension Board will be very important, as will managing relations with pension fund advisors, investment managers and actuaries. You will be responsible for one team member, the Pensions Officer.

Your Profile

You will ideally have experience of LGPS  and have indepth knowledge of the technical requirements relating to compiling pension fund accounts. You will have worked effectively with investment managers and have managed a significant investment portfolio. Strong report writing skills will be critical and you will also be comfortable presenting information to both internal and external stakeholders. Having experience of being part of a tendering process to select new investment advisors and managers would be beneficial.
