Head of Finance - Bath

Robert Half are working exclusively with a prestigious, long standing SME in central Bath. The business is very well networked globally and has provided high quality products to its continuously expanding customer base for hundreds of years. With dynamic plans to drive growth in 2019, the company is keen to bring on board a committed and hardworking Finance professional. The position is a fantastic opportunity to be hands on, utilise experience to date, influence strategic direction and be an avid representative for them.

  • Oversee the production of monthly MIP and carry out profit improvement discussions with budget holders
  • Generate meaningful quarterly P&Ls with insightful commentaries for budget holders
  • Provide statutory accounts to audit standard within 3 months of the year end
  • Produce reports for SMT; undertake one off projects to aid decision making; proactively contribute ideas on profit improvement
  • Establish and continually review the financial control environment
  • Control the balance sheet and ensure accurate recording of all transactions
  • Timely completion of VAT
  • Completion of all Payroll processes (inc pensions, statutory returns)
  • Manage the budgeting/forecasting processes
  • Ensure compliance with all financial and other regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with PCI requirements
  • Act as GDPR Data Controller and ensure compliance in the business with its requirements
  • Ensure IT infrastructure is fit for purpose, trouble shoot (with service providers) any problems and develop future capabilities
  • Champion the company's environmental standards


The ideal candidate for Head of Finance in Bath will be either ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or qualified by experience. Knowledge and understanding of using Sage50 and Microsoft Excel is beneficial along with accounting operations team management. Being a strong communicator to liaise, partner and influence the wider business is critical. Experience of Accounting in SME environments would also be advantageous.
