AJ Chambers have an exceptional opportunity for a Compliance Officer/Practice Manager to join a multi-award-winning firm of accountants in Ipswich.

 

The successful candidate will provide senior level support to the Managing Partner and the partners in general to ensure that all necessary compliance and partnership matters are handled efficiently and effectively. Whilst the role is based in Ipswich, occasional travel to other locations in East Anglia will be required.

 

This is a senior role within the partnership, which requires a flexible, pro-active approach, alongside the ability to build successful working relationships with partners and staff at all levels, as well as with external contacts such as professional bodes, external auditors and contractors. You should be comfortable with working independently as well as in close collaboration with the partners. The role covers four key areas: compliance, partnership matters, finance/insurances, and premises.

 

Duties:

  • Taking responsibility for all compliance matters of the practice, including oversight of the compliance diary and regulatory compliance for professional bodies
  • Assisting in the preparation of the ICAEW annual return
  • Overseeing Anti Money Laundering procedures
  • GDPR lead and support
  • Client Money support
  • PII notifications
  • Overseeing employee Fit & Proper forms
  • Company secretarial matters
  • Arranging partners meetings and minute taking
  • Arranging and overseeing specific staff benefits
  • Arranging, renewing and maintaining fleet insurance, general insurance, PI insurance
  • Drivers licence checks
  • Producing chargeable hours and other ad-hoc financial reports
  • Facilities management of five leasehold premises, overseeing larger property related projects
  • Leading on health & safety, fire safety and alarm management
  • Car fleet management
  • Covering the firm???s payroll procedures as required
  • Ad-hoc projects as required by the partners

 

Requirements:

  • A level standard education plus a minimum of Grade C in GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • Company secretarial qualification and experience
  • Conversant with relevant business legislation e.g. information governance, Health & Safety, GDPR
  • Advanced IT/data analysis skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Project management skills
  • Staff benefits administration experience (e.g. pension, group life & PHI, company car fleet)
  • Experience in overseeing GDPR, insurances, premises management and liaison with regulatory bodies
  • Experience within HR and/or Finance would be helpful
  • Practice management experience or similar ??? ideally within the professional services sector
  • Knowledge of payroll procedures
  • Experience and knowledge of Anti Money Laundering procedures
  • Able to exercise complete discretion and confidentiality
  • Full UK driving license and own transport
